Park Construction off Hunter Village Drive
What is that construction off the north end of Hunter Village Drive? It's the Accotink Stream Valley Trail, a 2.5 mile section of asphalt trail between Lake Accotink and Hunter Village Drive which is part of the 40 miles Cross County Trail. Eighty percent of the $2.25 million dollar project is funded through grants from the Federal Highway Administration. The remaining 20% of project funding is from the 2004 and 2006 Park Bond program.

In the next decade we will see the influx of up to 20,000 new jobs to Fort Belvoir and the Engineer Proving Grounds. The Base Realignment And Closure (BRAC) affects our area because of the widening of Rolling Road and its connectivity to the Springfield Parkway and 95.. Although VDOT has scrapped the widening of Rolling Rd. south of the Parkway, construction on Rolling north of the Parkway will proceed. Fort Belvoir has a link on its website which has additional information (large file).
